Get creative this Diwali and personalize your Diwali decor by making your own diyas, door hangings, torans. Here are some tips to get you started |
Diyas
Diyas are simple to make. You can use ceramic clay or wheat dough and mold it into the shape of a diya. Keep it overnight. If you like bling glue little mirrors while the molded diya is still wet. To spice it up, add colors to the Diwali lightings by decorating simple clay Diyas into attractive work of arts. For a traditional look you can fix zari over the edges of the Diya. Paint them in red, blue, green or yellow or any color that you fancy and bring to life the festivities of Diwali on your very own diyas! |

Door Hangings Another quick Diwali décor is a door hanging. It’s a great way to change the look of any room. Simply take a piece of thick cotton cloth with a vibrant color. On this cloth draw geometrical designs, religious symbols, traditional prints such as elephants etc. If you like, you can use mirrors, zari, sequins, glitter, etc. Once you’re done stitch the cloth around rods from both the ends and attach a sturdy string to it. That’s it, now it’s ready to adorn any of your walls! |

Torans Torans are a great way to give a warm welcome to your guests. To make a beautiful toran all you need are some real or artificial flowers, a long needle and a sturdy thread. Simply weave the flowers in varying sizes, or as per the design you’ve decided on. You can add leaves in between the flowers. Your toran is ready! |
