The problem with Indian FM channels is that they play the same drab Bollywood music. They have given short shrift to golden oldies, English songs and informative news. Plenty of ads also make you want to switch off the channel. Having said that, Radio City is the best as they tend to play some of the olden numbers. But there is a room for improvement.
Unlike West, Indian FM channels are poor in quality. Part of it are the strict government regulations. Another reason is the huge license fee the promoters have to pay to operate. This means people who are in the FM channel business, have to compromise on the quality of service. As a result, they play only the latest Bollywood trash music.
I was in Bangalore when FM radio took off, with Radio City. At that time, the programming was so much fun - the RJ was always great, and he played a mix of songs, Hindi, English and very rarely regional. I remember waking up at 7am and turning on the radio then! But it is so different now. Every channel plays the same terrible Bollywood numbers all the time. So much so, I much prefer the noisy traffic than the chaos of the radio.
